It had taken Valve over a decade to decide that they needed to make more games. Half-Life is finally getting another game (albeit a prequel), and it looks like the wait was all worth it. Whether Half-Life: Alyx manages to stay true to the roots of the Half-Life franchise remains to be seen, but a confirmed release date is now available. Half-Life: Alyx releases on March 23 for the PC.

A slew of screenshots also followed the announcement. Half-Life: Alyx does look good.

The game does seem to have sparked quite an interest in the VR market though, as sales of VR headsets, particularly that of the Valve Index (and also of the Oculus devices, to some extent). It remains to be seen whether this is a temporary fad, or whether it marks a permanent trend in the gaming industry.
