During their Twitch livestream last night ( 09/06/2016 10:30 PM IST), Bungie finally announced their latest expansion, which to no one’s surprise is named “Rise Of Iron”. Check out the reveal trailer below:

Destiny Rise Of Iron will be releasing on the PS4 and Xbox One on 20th September 2016.

The new expansion will be exclusive to the current gen console, so both the PS3 and Xbox 360 won’t be getting the new expansion. The new expansion is currently priced at $30 (with no Indian pricing available right now), and requires you to have The Taken King expansion as well.

If you do end up pre-ordering the game, you also stand to receive a special limited-edition black and silver version of Gjallarhorn rocket launcher (perhaps the most popular gun in all of Destiny).

The expansion includes new areas, including The Plaguelands and Felwinter Peak. Additionally, the Destiny starting area, The Wall, has been recreated as a new area you can revisit.

Players will also find a new raid, new and updated strikes, and more patrols and public events. Multiplayer fans may be happy to learn, too, that there will be more Crucible maps and features, while Rise of Iron also adds new CG and in-game cinematics.

Additionally, Destiny Rise of Iron comes with a new Light level increase (an unspecified “significant Light increase,” developers said) and a new “mutated” enemy faction of the Fallen (which are visible towards the end of the trailer).

One of the new weapons is a “flaming waraxe,” seen during the reveal trailer is an “encounter-specific weapon,” developers said. So you would not be using it in crucibles.

As for the story, “Guardians must rise to the challenge to take their place as the next generation of Iron Lords. Along the way they will join forces with a legend from humanity’s Golden Age to defeat a plague of unstoppable evil once and for all.”

Similar to past Destiny expansions, there will also be items exclusive to PlayStation players for a period of time. Bungie did not announce this content today, but said more details on this, and other things related to Rise of Iron, are coming “at a later date.”

Towards the end of the livestream, Bungie hinted that even more trailers and gameplay would be available at E3 2016.

So whew! That was a lot. E3 2016 week is definitely heating up with Watch Dogs 2, Deus Ex Mankind Divided and Injustice 2 being announced. Which game are you looking forward to the most.
