According to an interview Gamasutra did with Cyberpunk 2077 quest designer Patrick Mills, the cyberpunk RPG will improve upon the excellent quest design from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

The story of Cyberpunk 2077 will unfold based on which quests you finish first. Similar to The Witcher 3’s expansions Heart of Stone and Blood and Wine, Cyberpunk 2077 will have some instances where players can complete quests in varying orders. Cyberpunk 2077 will also adapt to the various paths you take in the story. The players will have the choice to choose multiple paths through the questlines, as shown in the behind-doors E3 demo.

Those scenes pretty much play out more or less the same, but there are little bits of reaction, little bits of differences, even something as simple as that, you want to make sure they reference once another,” said Mills.

The quest design is also more complex this time around due to the availability of three character classes; Solo, Techie, and Netrunner. The quests can go in various directions depending on the chosen class.

Although release dates are yet to be announced, it’s safe to assume that Cyberpunk 2077 will launch in the near future for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
