Allegations of match-fixing between FaZe Clan and Black Dragons in the Rainbow Six Pro League have been around for quite some time. In the match between FaZe Clan and Black Dragons in the LATAM qualifiers, FaZe Clan landed a clear 7-0 win due to repeated disconnects from Black Dragons, ultimately resulting in a forfeit. Rumors of an “agreement” made between Juninho ‘GdNN1’ Nunes and Ronaldo ‘ion’ Osawa for allowing FaZe to win their third match against Black Dragons have surfaced, mentioned by Black Dragons analyst Thiago ‘Thyy’ Nycézio. GdNN1 is a player for Black Dragons, while ion is a former Black Dragons player who now plays for FaZe Clan. Black Dragons were asked to allow FaZe to win in the Pro League so that they can continue on their journey to secure a spot at the international Pro League. In return, FaZe would throw the match when they meet in Brasilerao, where Black Dragons are trying for a spot at the playoffs.

Audio footage surfaced on Twitter following the allegations, from Thyy. It apparently is an argument between GdNN1 and Thyy, where implicit references to the match-fixing could be found.

The ESL had already inflicted two penalty points on Black Dragons – one for failing to appear on time for the match, and another for “Internet issues caused by deliberate actions” of the team. Black Dragons stand to lose 20% of their earnings too. No action has been taken against FaZe, as there hasn’t been any evidence to suggest their role in the match-fixing scandal.
