Dark Light

Let’s start off with this- No The Elder Scrolls VI. Many of you may be disappointed in this, but well this is Bethesda we are talking about. Even though they keep games in development for quite some time, they do not reveal it until they think is necessary. SO as far as E3 is concerned, let’s have a look at what they had to offer at this year’s presentation:

The Elder Scroll Legends

The conference started off with The Elder Scrolls: Legends, which to be honest looks like a Hearthstone rip-off. We do not have much details, but a small part of what they showed for the gameplay, clearly had the aesthetics and gameplay style of the Blizzard game. At the moment of the announcement, it seemed exciting, but the more I thought about it, the more I remembered Hearthstone. For me The Elder Scroll Legends was a miss.

Skyrim Remaster

This had been revealed before coming to E3, that Skyrim will be remastered for current gen consoles and I must say, it looks pretty good on the PS4 and Xbox One as per what they showed in a few screen shots of the game. Not only is it graphically enhanced, Bethesda has also allowed console players the ecstasy of using mods which will excite lots of new players. There will be a separate options in the main menu for mods which is great. Console gamers will finally get a taste of what it is like to have mods, which have been mostly exclusive to the PC community. SO I would say that this part of the conference was a HIT for me.

Prey Reboot

The teaser trailer we had gotten for Prey 2 is one of the best trailers I have seen till date. It’s sad that we didn’t get a game but that is because Bethesda decided to reboot the franchise. A bit of the gameplay was shown, and it seemed pretty much like more of what we had gotten with Doom, but I don’t think gamers will mind having another Doom, as we can see with all the Dark Souls games being same mechanically and also the endless COD franchise, both of them being commercially successful. So I would say this was a HIT for me.

The Elder Scrolls Online: The Dark Brotherhood

Already released on the PC, TESO: The Dark Brotherhood is ready for the consoles and we got to see some of the stats which have been set by the PC players. Another announced feature was that players could now access all of Tamriel without level restrictions and could team up with anyone. I don’t know much about TESO, haven’t gotten into it much, so this will probably be a Neutral for me.

Doom Features

Doom has reached quite some commercial and critical acclaim and Bethesda is supporting the growth of the franchise with features such as Snapmap. The developers have also added new game-modes like Deathmatch, Capture the flag and Capture & Hold. Also for those who haven’t picked up the game, they’ll be happy to know that the first level of the game can be played for free through Steam, starting today and if I heard right, this will last for a week or so. Feel free to correct me in the comments below. A big HIT for bringing back the F2P demo system.

Quake Champions: The Next Squad Based Arena Shooter

It’s Quake with frame rate unlocked and graphics through the roof, provided you throw the right PC hardware at it. Nuf said. All we currently know is that there will be four classes and in a post-conference interview with one of the developers we found out that they are working on balancing all the classes and we will get more details in the quake con this year. For me a nostalgic feel of my early days of gaming, HIT.

Fallout 4

We came to know about various additions to the already existing Fallout games such as shelter and Fallout 4 and it’s latest upcoming DLC, Nuka World, about which not much is known. Fallout 4 has commercially been successful for many and hence this will be a somewhat HIT news for the fans.

Dishonored 2

The game that most of us have been waiting for this year and also one of the most anticipated games of 2016 considered by many finally got a gameplay trailer and little bit of a story trailer. Also we got to see the various new powers of Emily Kaldwin. We will get to play as Corvo Attano as well and we finally get to see his face, which is great. Many of the features look similar to Dishonored, but since we didn’t get to play it we can’t speak how good it actually is. Dishonored 2 is looking to be one of those sequels that builds on it’s first part and does everything better. Can’t wait to get a hands on gameplay. A huge HIT for the game.

Overall the Bethesda conference was a good one, but there was practically no new game that we got to hear about. I mean, yeah many leaks happen prior to E3, but developers keep some secrets to themselves and reveal them on the event. It seems that Bethesda had dug up the past and brought it to life, with Quake and Prey being the prime examples. There was nothing breathtaking except for when they were showing the Dishonored 2 gameplay. I would say it was a HIT, but I think Sony will out-excite the crowd without much effort. But well it’s my opinion and we would like to know your opinion about the Bethesda conference at E3 this year.
