Dark Light

After a drought of games in the summer yet again, it is time when the gaming industry starts blooming a new flower and in the upcoming few days, August will be upon us and with it will come a plethora of games that we have been waiting for. Here is a list of 5 games that are my most anticipated games of the upcoming month:

The Uncertain

This was actually a last moment addition. As I was browsing games for August, many games seemed the same old same old. I am surprised by the number of first person atmospheric/horror games coming in the future. This game, I thought would be the same, but to my delightful surprise, it seemed something different. These days games without gameplay and more narrative are considered good games and the rise of mindless walking simulators, visual novels and interactive drama is huge (Never got to liking these types of games). One game I did like in such a genre was The Vanishing of Ethan carter and The Uncertain gives you a vibe of that as well as a bit of The Witness and The Talos Principle (Don’t understand the obsession with the word ‘The’), all of which are great games requiring you use your mind. I’m definitely waiting for this game after it’s discovery. Also the game looks damn good.

Attack On Titan

Statistically, video game adaptations of the highest rated animes have not had a great track record because they weren’t able to capture the atmosphere and the actual charm of the anime. I am a little iffy about this game, but from what I have seen of the gameplay, this game looks cool. A lot will depend on how the game creates an atmosphere of tension and how the voice acting is done. My only gripe with such games is that they have to adhere to the storyline (This anime has a pretty unique plot) and in doing so, many a times the developers have to limit the game in some way. If this is not done, something similar to DBZ and Naruto games happen, alternating the story according to their will or creating a story of their own. Hope the developers find a way to adhere to the story and simultaneously not hold the game back in any sense. This game has already been released in Japan I think (And I have been staying away from spoilers), but due to lack of reviews worldwide, it is difficult to judge the game on the current reviews.

Final Fantasy XV

This game has been in development for so long, gosh, it was first planned for the previous gen consoles, then it was slated for the current gen consoles. Now this game will supposedly get a PC release as well. It was actually pretty obvious that FFXV would be getting a PC release due to the fact that Square Enix has been porting most of the previous games on the platform. The game is shaping up nicely and the hype surrounding this game is huge. Let’s hope that Square Enix is able to deliver on this long awaited title.

Note- It was a mistake on my part and I deeply apologize for the incorrect information, I confused September 30 for August 30(So excited for this game)

Abzu

Abzu is one gorgeous looking game. Many of you who have played Subnautica may find this game appealing, because they both look kind of same, except that Subnautica is procedurally generated and has action and survival elements. This is basically a swimming simulator (I dunno what’s up with developers going from shooting to walking to swimming simulators), but the art style and the nature of the game itself has me intrigued. With very subtle music effects and pretty environments I hope that the developers are able to deliver with this game.

No Man’s Sky

No Man’s Sky is one of the most anticipated games of the year and we do not need to discuss much about it, since it is coming early in August and is already known to many people. If you have not heard of this game, you have been living under a rock (Or just woke up from cryo sleep). Well for those of you who are relatively new to the hype train of this game- It is a MMO with a procedurally generated open universe where you have to fight, trade, gather resources and craft equipment to survive in the vast world. The universe is so huge, that the developers have said that even being an MMO, it’ll be difficult to find another player in the world and it is impossible to explore every planet in one single lifetime. Your main aim is to reach the centre of the universe and there are more than a quintillion planets, all different. If all this doesn’t excite you, I dunno what will.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

maxresdefault

Following the events of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Mankind Divided is a direct sequel involving Adam Jensen and follows up on the tension created between augmented humans and non-augmented humans. The gameplay changes and improvements feel and look drastically different in a good way. They do somewhat seem like Crysis a bit to me (the armour mode), but well I can’t complain, Deus Ex: Human Revolution is one of the best games I have played till date and if Mankind Divided is able to live up to it as a sequel, it will definitely be GOTY for me.
