Infinity Ward has offered the first proper look at DMZ, the extraction-based mode coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 when the shooter launches on October 23.

Revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase, DMZ takes players to the Hajin Exclusion Zone, a new sandbox-style map where they can deploy alone or with a squad and take on missions while battling enemy forces and other Operators.
According to Infinity Ward, the mode will feature dynamic weather, changing objectives, loot collection, crafting systems, and a player-driven bounty mechanic. Players can also complete story-focused missions and side activities while searching for valuable gear across the map.

The studio says no two deployments are intended to play out the same way, with the Hajin Exclusion Zone constantly changing through shifting conditions and evolving threats.
DMZ is one of three core pillars of Modern Warfare 4, joining the game’s Campaign and Multiplayer offerings at launch. Infinity Ward is positioning the mode as a major evolution of the extraction shooter formula, with a focus on long-term progression and replayability.

A first-look trailer for the mode was released alongside the announcement, while additional details have been shared through the official Call of Duty blog.
