Coming into the last quarter of the year is practically synonymous to big releases or to be more exact, games with huge investment in marketing. In this mumbo jumbo of games, which are more generic than the food made in a hostel messes, there are some games that may have great ideas or are simply more fun to play, but get drowned due to the sheer hype of big games. Here is a look at 5 games with some details and a trailer, that might prove to be fun to play in spite of not having bloated hype.
Syndrome
You wake up on a spaceship, dazed and confused from the effects of cryosleep, and begin to search for the rest of the crew. Where could they have gone? All too suddenly, you discover that most of them are dead, and those still alive are… changed. In this claustrophobic horror, nothing is what it seems. Please note that we are handling North and South America only for this title. The game is played in first person view. While exploring, the player can pick up and interact with objects like doors, keypads or computer consoles and use weapons (both melee and long range). The enemy units are powerful and numerous, which means that the player must be stealthy and evade combat when possible. There are weapons aboard the ship, but ammo is very limited so they must be wisely spent.

100ft Robot Golf
An unconventional, arcady sports game created by No Goblin, specifically for PlayStation VR. The game presents an original variation on the classic golf, casting the player in the role of a pilot controlling a powerful robot. A robot’s main goal is to place the ball in a hole that is located at a large distance. The entire action takes place on bizarre maps, such as a city center, the surface of the Moon or mountain peaks. Because the robots are gigantic, particular environmental objects are destructible here, which allows for performing a set of crazy actions. The player can also hit the ball with a club of another robot standing in the “golf course” as well. Apart from the single-player campaign, the creators included a multiplayer component. The players can compete against one another either online or in the split-screen mode.

Robot Squad Simulator
Use specialized, remotely controlled robots, which you will control yourself. Deal with the hardest missions which can’t be performed directly by people due to the conditions. Game features- 4 different robots: 2 terrestrial, aerial and underwater; 6 training missions; 16 story missions which take place all over the world, in different settings; 10 different accessories mounted on robots; plenty of gameplay elements like: guards, explosives, mechanisms; upgrading parameters of robots and accessories; different types of missions: rescue, spy, exploration, military.

Crazy Machines 3
The third full-fledged installment in the popular series of logic games inspired by the cult series The Incredible Machine. Crazy Machines series was introduced in 2004 and has been developed since then by the German studio FAKT Software. The objective of Crazy Machines 3 is to construct unusual machines which must serve a specific task. The machines are constructed by using various parts which work with each other thanks to the domino effect. What’s very important, each puzzle available in the game can be solved in various ways. The new installment doesn’t change the gameplay drastically. Instead, it simply introduces more components, improved physics engine and modern graphics. It contains a functional editor which allows for creation of custom parts and levels and sharing them with the community.

Earth’s Dawn
A science fiction 2D side-scroll beat ’em up game with role-playing elements by Japanese studio OneorEight. The plot is focused on an invasion of hostile aliens, who destroy everything in their path and are completely resistant to traditional weaponry. When scientists discover that the aliens can only be harmed with weapons based on their own technology, a special team is created. Its task is to stop the invaders, and you play as one of its members. Mechanics-wise, the game is a typical “walking” beat ’em up production, where the difficulty level increases as you progress, and to succeed you have to perform complex combo attacks. Along the way, you gather experience, which allows you to develop your strength and abilities, using a complex skill tree, allowing you to fit your character to your preferred playstyle.
