Dark Light

April was a good month for Xbox owners on both the 360 and One. May however bring with it some more new games that every Xbox gamer with a Xbox Live Gold membership can download for free. Lets take a look shall we.

Xbox One:

CastleStorm

Castle Storm

For the entire month of May, Xbox One owners with a Live Gold account will be able to download Castle Storm. The game is a cross between a brawler and tower-defense game. Players defend their keep and try to destroy their enemy’s by using ground troops, spells and artillery. They can enhance their forces over time using currency gained through battle. The modes include single-player, co-op and competitive multiplayer.

The Definitive Edition of CastleStorm also includes the two expansions, From Outcast to Savior and The Warrior Queen. Those DLC packs add a combined 40 battles to the game along with new weapons, characters and Achievements.

Pool Nation

Going into its 2nd month as a Xbox Games with Gold offering. Pool Nation will remain available for download for no extra cost for any user who hasn’t downloaded the game yet. The game involves you playing Pool of course.

Xbox 360:

Mafia2

Mafia 2

On the last generation side of things, we have the AAA whammy of Mafia 2 for the first 15 days of the month. An open-world crime game that takes place in the post-World War 2 era. The player is Vito Scaletta, an Italian immigrant who rises through the ranks of the Empire City underworld. The various unsavory tasks they’ll need to perform will put both their driving and shooting skills to the test. The game’s three DLC packs, which add new story-based missions, don’t seem to be included with the freebie.

f12013

F1 2013

For the next 15 days of the month, you can satisfy the racer within you with F1 2013. The simulator is said to feature all the cars, drivers and tracks from the 2013 FIA Formula One World Championship. F1 2013 also included some racing content from the 1980s in case you’re feeling nostalgic. Developed by Codemaster, this should offer some really nice gameplay.

Verdict:

Following a strong April, Microsoft have some pretty good games on offer this May as well. However not able to produce 2 new games on the Xbox One is starting to feel cheap and is an indication of the thin library that the Xbox One has as compared to Sony and the PlayStation 4.

Let us know in the comments what you think of these offerings. Which one is your favorite, and which one do you want to see in the future.
