Platige Image, a Polish production and visual effects company, announced that Netflix is developing an English language drama series based on The Witcher novels by polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski.
Sapkowski will serve as a creative consultant on the series. While, Sean Daniel (The Mummy franchise, The Expanse) and Jason Brown (The Expanse) are executive producers, along with Oscar nominated and BAFTA winner Tomek Baginski and Jarek Sawko from Platige Image, are also on board. Bagiński will also direct at least one episode per season.
“I’m thrilled that Netflix will be doing an adaptation of my stories, staying true to the source material and the themes that I have spent over thirty years writing,” said Sapkowski in a press release. “I’m excited about our efforts together, as well as the team assembled to shepherd these characters to life.”
As of yet, it is not revealed that whether it’s going to be a fully fledged CGI animated series or a live-action drama. They’ve also didn’t announced any details regarding the cast, story and release date.
Meanwhile, CD Projekt Red, developers behind The Witcher 3 game, are not involved in this TV series adaption.
