Update: Telltale has now officially announced the release date and platforms for The Walking Dead: The Final Season with a trailer featuring Clementine and AJ, which you can see below (courtesy of IGN):

“Well… after years on the road facing threats both living and dead, a secluded school might finally be Clementine’s chance for a home. But protecting it will mean sacrifice” reads Telltale’s blog post. “Clem must build a life and become a leader while still watching over AJ, an orphaned boy and the closest thing to family she has left. In this gripping, emotional final season, you will define your relationships, fight the undead, and determine how Clementine’s story ends”.

Also, we got an update on the Switch version which is slated for a late 2018 release window.

Original Post: According to VideoGamer, the last chapter in Telltale’s interactive story-driven game, The Walking Dead, will begin from August 14. The Walking Dead: The Final Season is – as the name suggests – the final season in Telltale’s beloved and critically acclaimed emotional zombie video game series.

The game will initially launch on PS4, Xbox One and PC, with a Nintendo Switch release later down the line. Pre-orders will begin from June 8 for $20 USD (approx ₹1340 INR) granting you access to download all four episodes once made available. On the top of that, pre-ordering for PS4 and Xbox One will offer you access to The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series Collection.

The Final Season will host a slew of new features, including an over-the-shoulder camera, unscripted combat, a Graphic Black art-style, 4K resolution and HDR support for PS4 Pro & Xbox One X.

Strangely, Telltale has yet to announce a release date for the same on their official website and VideoGamer.com, who seemingly published the news first, has now taken down the article. It all appears as if the site has pulled the trigger early. But you can read a cached version of the article here.

We’ve reached out to Telltale for a confirmation and will update you back. So, stay tuned for more details.
