Loved the game SOMA? Loved the intense parts of the game, and the jumpscares? Apparently , an easter egg has been discovered in it recently, and it’s quite a good one too! (It’s our interpretation really, and contains some minor spoilers, so please read with care)
In SOMA, one of Catherine Chun’s side projects was the ARK, which housed the brain scans of various crew members in a simulated paradise. Her objective was to create a virtual utopia where humankind could live in after the famous “Impact Event”. Guess what? It’s a reference to the game ARK :Survival Evolved on Steam, where humans spawn on the island, naked and weak, and have to make their way up to the top of the food chain by killing and taming the native inhabitants, more often ferocious and aggressive than not, in order to take control of the environment. Pictures of “the forest” from the simulation are quite similar to some of the forest environments of ARK : Survival Evolved.
Furthermore, a VR expansion for ARK : Survival Evolved, called the ARK Park, is a lot similar to the pictures of “the park” in the simulation. It even shows the maglev station that is shown in the ARK Park trailer.
Studio Wildcard, you have some explaining to do.
