Microsoft and Rare announced today that Sea of Thieves has now surpassed 15 million players altogether. This is an impressive continued growth, as per last official player count for the game was 10 million players earlier this year in January.
- The pirate themed co-op multiplayer game was released for Xbox One and PC in March 2018.
- It became the first exclusive title from Microsoft to launch on Xbox Game Pass ‘day and date’ with its retail release.
- The title has sold over 1 million copies since releasing on Steam on June 3, 2020.
- Since its initial launch, the game has seen numerous updates from Rare adding new items, factions, quests and more.
- June 2020 was the biggest month so far for Sea of Thieves, with over 3.3 million players setting sail.
- It is now the most successful new IP from Xbox of this generation.
Rare is also working on a brand new IP set in a ‘natural and magical world’ called Everwild.
