“Exclusives”, a word which is pretty damned these days in the gaming industry because of the ongoing Console Wars, which according to Phil Spencer, head of the Xbox, is pointless. Exclusives on consoles are just a way of expanding business and to create disparities among gamers (According to me). Everyone knows that PS and Xbox have a huge list of exclusives and many of them are pretty much what people love these days. But what about PCs? PC has a much bigger list of exclusives and a much wider genre of games, yet people do not prefer PCs. The main reason for such a stance is that many of the PC exclusives are not marketed or hyped and do not relate to the general public whereas lots of effort is taken to promote console exclusives for making profits and these games tend to follow the trend.

Most of the PC exclusive games you find on different platforms like Steam, which is the most popular one, are developed by small companies or a small group people who don’t have the financial capabilities to advertise their games. Not every game can be Team Fortress 2 or Warframe, and PC exclusives tend to be less story based. These games are meant to be played online. We see almost all of the AAA games on all the platforms today, and most of the console exclusives are somewhat similar to them which makes sales of such games easier. In case of PC games, the developers are always trying to do something new & creative and they don’t have to go through tedious processes to release a game, I’m not saying that consoles do not have creative games, but PCs simply have exponentially more which when combined with official and community mods make even more games possible. For example H1Z1 is a mod of ARMA 3. But since most games are not highly backed up by budget, many of them fail to appeal the general crowd.

Many console gamers think that PC does not many good games, but the fact that they expect every game to be like God of War or Uncharted is just not the right attitude. This is my quote (Pun Intended):

“A system doesn’t make a gamer, games do.”

So if we consider the various indie games, the various arena shooters with witty characters and funky aesthetics, the RTS games and what not, then we have games like Team Fortress 2, Loadout, World of Warcraft etc which are only a few of many. Oh and I did’nt mention CS:GO, because that goes by default. Games like ARMA 3, League of Legends, Dota 2 etc are the type of games which are enjoyed by many and have become big games in recent years.

But there is this, if you are not interested in MOBAs, RTS or MMOs then you’re out of luck with PC exclusives. If you’re only into AAA and similar games I would highly suggest you stay away from PC gaming. Sony and Microsoft have very strict rules about allowing games from new developers and hence only big companies are able to bring it to the platform. Add to this the fact that most of the more popular exclusives are graphically intense, which is not a bad thing, but some people just like to have good graphics which is all personal preference. PC does not have many games with high graphical fidelty.

“The PC gamers may brag about the high quality of gaming that they get, but we should remember the fact that most of the PC exclusive games are made for a larger crowd and hence do not have that kind of graphics.”

Only big companies are able to release games that can fully utilize a PC’s power.

So I would say that if you do not have much time to play games or are not interested in MOBAs, RTS etc or do not want the various hardware and software problems that come with the PC, I would recommend the consoles. If you are looking for millions of creative games or you want the highest performance or you just want the gazillion mods available on the net, then definitely go for the PCs.
