OMG are crowned the champions of the FPP tournament of the PUBG Global Invitational 2018, winning the tournament with a sheer lead of 3425 points and walking away with the $400,000 prize money. Team Liquid and Welcome to South Georgio (WTSG) come second and third respectively, netting themselves $160,000 and $100,000 respectively. OMG’s lionkk became the longest surviving player with the most number of kills, winning himself an extra $20,000 in the process.
There was a notable change in the FPP tournament, with OMG taking an early lead, putting insane pressure on other teams and rotating extremely fast from one place to another. It’s surprising to see Team Liquid’s consistency, as they offer some tough competition to the other teams in both the TPP and FPP tournaments. Welcome to South Georgio is another team who became known for their well calculated plays.
Both days of the FPP tournament were jam packed with action, with some teams performing way better in the FPP tournament as compared to their performance in the TPP tournament. Natus Vincere and AVANGAR Gaming scored finishes in the 4th and 5th spots in the FPP tournament as compared to their 10th and 16th spots in the TPP tournaments. Refund Gaming also had a good run in FPP as compared to their dismal camping play style in the TPP tournament. MiTH Gaming, Gen G Gold and Gen G Black had a relatively sad performance after their aggressive plays in the TPP tournament. The FPP tournament clearly shows the big difference between the two game modes, and how some players are more used to one game mode than the other.
