While it already has been confirmed that NVIDIA would be releasing two new architectures this year – called Ampere, and Turing, which is a refreshed version of Ampere – few know when to expect them to drop. However, in a promising leak from an industry source, NVIDIA seems to be shifting the release of the new Turing architecture to GTC 2018, and not unveil it during Editor’s Day like they do every year.

While the naming of the next series of NVIDIA GPUs isn’t exactly known – there’s some debate as to whether the new GPUs will be called the GTX 2070 and the GTX 2080 or the GTX 1170 and the GTX 1180 – there is little guessing that they will be much more powerful than present-gen architectures, with Turing sporting a refreshed version of the more powerful Ampere architecture. While normally the new architecture is always unveiled during late March or early April during Editor’s Day, rumor is it that it might be shifted to the GTC 2018.
