Just Cause 4’s PC port has been a mess ever since its launch. Although the core gameplay is still fun like previous entities in the franchise and the “chaotic gameplay experience is retained here in Just Cause 4. Sadly, there are way too many issues and shortcomings that severely hamper the potential of the game”, as Jaykrishnan says in our review of Just Cause 4.
Yesterday, Square Enix and Avalanche Studios announced a patch for the game, exclusive to the PC version. The patch promises numerous stability fixes along with updated texture mapping and improved asset rendering. The full patch notes can be found below:
“Numerous stability fixes
– Improvements and fixes to menu navigation for mouse and keyboard users
– Support for remapping of movement keys
– Improved vegetation rendering and asset updates
– Fixes to some texture mapping issues
– Increased mouse sensitivity range
– Corrected specialised vehicle support for mouse and keyboard players
– Fixed issue with steering flying vehicles with keyboard
– Fixed the disabling SSAO option in Graphics menu, which resulted in broken Ambient Occlusion”
Square Enix further apologized, and assured that they’ll improve the overall gameplay experience. “Please rest assured that this is just the start of the work we are carrying out. We are prioritising as best we can, and we are already looking into working on further other fixes for patches updates that will come in the New Year. We’d like to say a big thank you to our fans for all the helpful comments on the forum; we take these very seriously and they are of great help in identifying and prioritising issues. If you do encounter a problem, it is worth checking on the forum first whether it has already been raised – in which case we’ll already be looking into it – or whether we should begin a separate investigation to work out the cause. If the fix you are after is not in the list below please bear with us and we will update you ASAP.”, Square Enix further added.
It’ll be interesting to see how much improvement Square Enix and Avalanche Studios are able to actually bring into the game.
