Its been hardly a while since Fortnite got sued by Bluehole Studios for potentially copying its “battle-royale” concept, and here we are with another game following in the footsteps of Fortnite. Paladins is all set to get a battle royale mode, a genre which has been quite popular recently, with millions playing games just to be the last man alive.
Announced at the Hi-Rez Expo 2018, Paldins: Battlegrounds boasts to be the first ever hero shooter having ability driven combat with survival gameplay and a fantasy setting to create something new. The new mode follows the same structure as its predecessors, i.e., having a large map (300 times the size of a normal siege map) where 100 players drop together with the only one motive, i.e., to be the last man alive, the only difference being, players get a wide variety of heroes to choose from here. Each match lasts around 20 minutes, with players grouping together in bands and scavenging the map for weapons.
“Designed from the ground-up to be played in teams, players must work together to survive in Paladins: Battlegrounds,” Hi-Rez said in a statement. “Supports struggle to keep their Front Liners alive, while Damage Champions let the bullets fly and Flanks look for any possible assassination.
“Players spawn into a massive map—over 300 times the square footage of a typical Paladins’ Siege map. Then they hop onto their mounts and begin exploring, looting their way through more than four dozen outposts and tracking zeppelins that drop legendary gear.”
