InXile Entertainment has released a new image, giving us a first glance at the upcoming Wasteland 30th Anniversary Edition. Wasteland 30th Anniversary Edition is a remastering of the genre-changing RPG that will feature updated graphics along with all the necessary bells and whistles.

The original (1988) on the top vs the remaster (2019) on the bottom

Wasteland is a 1988 RPG developed by Interplay and is considered to be the father of Fallout and paved the way for modern CRPGs. The 30th Anniversary Edition is being worked on by Krome Studios, the team currently behind the recent remastering of the Bard’s Tale Trilogy. The remaster will feature updated graphics (which maintain the spirit of the original pixel art), run natively in current operating systems and at all current resolutions, and offer other quality of life features (including the incorporation of the paperback journal into the game).

The Wasteland – 30th Anniversary Edition remaster is currently in pre-production, with an expected completion date of early 2019 for PC and Xbox One. Anyone who purchases the Wasteland 30th Anniversary Bundle bundle prior to then will receive the game at no additional cost upon release.
