PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS is one of the fastest growing games in the history of gaming, with a competitive scene already in the form of invitational as well as open tournaments hosted by organizers like ESL, MLG, and the like. The best way to take advantage of a developing scene is to get into it early, and G2 Esports looks forward to do just that. They had just announced their lineup for PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS.

The team is led by Mark “Phantasy” Pinney, and includes Stephen “Stephen” Philips, David “Velan” Velan and Jack “Wack0” Middleton. Phantasy and Stephen were Call of Duty stalwarts on the PC platform in their time, while Velan and Wack0 started out as competitive players for Overwatch.

The team announcement comes just in time as the IEM Oakland PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS invitational is next month, due on November 18 and 19. If G2 Esports are not one of the teams invited, they need to qualify in the online qualifier, which takes place on October 28 and 29.

G2 Esports already has teams for Hearthstone, League of Legends, Counter Strike : Global Offensive, Rocket League and Paladins. Getting into PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS seems only natural progress for the organization.
