Well, this is just contradictory. Bethesda has been criticising Sony for their reluctance to allow cross-play with other platforms throughout the year. Todd Howard went on record to say that they’d love to have crossplay in their upcoming online RPG Fallout 76 and “that Sony isn’t being as helpful as we want them to be” in making it happen.

Now that Sony has opened their doors to the idea of allowing cross-play, Bethesda’s Pete Hines dropped the bomb on Twitter, saying that Fallout 76 does not support crossplay.

If you take a look at this Eurogamer interview, you can spot Pete Hines saying “it would be nice if I could play on my Xbox and my kid is playing on his PC and we can play together, but if we can’t, OK.”

Maybe make up your mind first Bethesda? But knowing the industry, I’m sure there is some logical reason as to why Fallout 76 does not support crossplay.

Fallout 76 comes out on November 14. Preordering the game grant you access to the aptly named B.E.T.A.
