ESL has made arrangements to extend the reach of E-sports to South America which had been lacking in adequate facilities to conduct proper E-sports leagues for a very long time. Aspiring teams from SA can now compete against one another in the official tournament that is to see its opening ceremony on March 24th.
The tournament labeled ESL LA League will unfold from the 24th of March, 2018, allowing competitors from all over SA(South America) to demonstrate their skills on the stadium in the two open qualifiers.
Eight teams from the open qualifiers(four per qualifier) will ultimately enter the closed qualifiers to join the eight invited teams where they will compete against each other commencing from 30th March to 1st April.
The top eight teams of the closed qualifiers will progresses to the main stage which will conclude on the day of the Grand Finale on 5th March. The winner of the ESL LA League will be awarded a position to compete against the seven teams from Europe, six from NA(North America) and top two sides of the Asia-Pacific event that is held in Sydney, in the ESL Pro League Season 7 Finals that is scheduled to begin from the 14th of May and end on the 20th.
On the note that the winning teams have to move to America, ESL has also made it mandatory for the eight teams competing in the main stage to have their US Visas ready.
“We are really happy to announce the LA League,” ESL Brasil CEO Leo De Biase said in a statement. “It is another victory for esports and, with it, ESL strengthens its commitment to helping the players trying to find their space among the professionals.
“We are trying to encourage them, from the bottom to the top, step by step, from zero to hero.”
The eight invited teams will be announced during the closed qualifiers on ESL Brazil’s official social media page.
