DOOM Eternal won’t be arriving this November 22 anymore, unfortunately. There’s been a tweet from developer id Software announcing the delay, along with a few other changes.

The new release date is now March 20, 2020. And the Switch release is now pushed further down the road, with no annnounced date yet. The release is being pushed “to make [they] deliver the best experience – for DOOM Eternal to live upto [their] standards of speed and polish.”

id Software also shed light on a new game mode – Invasion, which will let people get into another player’s game as a demon and hunt down Doomguy. This mode will be arriving as a free update shortly after launch.

Also, the classic DOOM 64 is now arriving to PC as well as the PS4 and Xbox One. The port was earlier announced to be arriving to the Switch this November 22, alongwith Eternal. But as with that, it’ll now launch alongside Eternal March 20, 2020, and will also be available as a pre-order bonus. So you can grab DOOM 64 for free, by pre-ordering DOOM Eternal. A great deal if you’re a sucker for retro FPS games I’d say.

This isn’t all bad news though, as we can now expect it to be more optimised and polished at launch now, although 4 months late. And this also makes it one less game for Jay to review next month!
