Rumours have been going about for the past few days regarding the Xbox One exclusive Halo 5: Guardians making its way to the PC. To see a mainline Halo game back on the PC would have been great indeed. But it turns out that Halo 5 will stay an Xbox One exclusive for the time being.

As a Microsoft spokesperson told CNET:

“As we’ve shared previously, we do not have plans to launch Halo 5: Guardians on Windows 10 PC.”

Developer director of Halo, Frank O’Connel also commented on this:

“The only version of Halo 5 for PC, is the free to play “Ausar” multiplayer component (supports custom games, controller and mouse/kb and Forge tools – and we have no further plans to expand on that for the foreseeable future). The Halo 5 team is growing and working at full speed ahead on Halo Infinite. I have no idea why the box art logos changed but I will ask a grown-up in the morning.”

Fans have been waiting a long time to see the last few Halo games making their way to the PC, especially the Masterchief collection. But for the time being, we can rest assured that the recently announced Halo: Infinite will be releasing on Windows 10 when it finally launches.
