Way back in June, Bungie revealed their Destiny Content Vault (DVC) which is a plan to recycle content in order to make room for new content. In what Bungie describes as “ever-expanding” game Destiny 2, turned out to be too large for them to effectively manage. Currently, Destiny 2 hosts: 40 story missions, 54 adventures, 42 Lost Sectors, 17 strikes, 31 PvP maps, 12 one-off special activities, seven raids, six Gambit arenas, three dungeons, numerous quests, and rewards. All this gives the game a massive size of 115 GB.
November 10th will be mark year four with the Beyond Light DLC. When year four begins, DVC will kick into effect recycling: Io, Titan, Mars, Mercury, and Leviathan in order to make room for Europa and the return of the Cosmodrome. With the loss of the planets, all of the PvE content will be gone as well including the Red War campaign, along with the Curse of Osiris and Warmind campaigns. All of the associated strikes will be gone as well. Beyond Light will be bringing some new strikes. Black Armory Forges, Reckoning, and Menagerie activities, along with The Scourge of the Past and Crown of Sorrows raids will be removed as well. The Leviathan ship and all of it’s associated raid activities are going to be recycled as well. However Last Wish and Garden of Salvation raids will be left in the game.
Portions of Gambit and Crucible will be removed with the rest being rotated in and out of the game. Most of the content being removed was available to free to play players and some of the paid content is being removed as well but not nearly as much. DVC and the content being pulled may not be removed completely as Bungie suggested that they will add some of the content back in as they rotate the old content back out.
