If there is one thing more awesome than playing co-op with your friends is, well, playing co-op with all your friends across all platforms. Sadly we’ll have to wait a few more years for platform cross-play to be mainstream but that doesn’t mean that games can’t support it now. Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford confirmed via Twitter that Borderlands 3 will indeed support cross-play but not at launch.
According to Randy, Gearbox is fully committed to making a positive cross-play experience across all platforms and just needs to go-ahead by the big players (Sony and Microsoft). We guess it won’t take much to persuade Microsoft to allow cross-play between PC and Xbox but Sony is a different beast altogether.
Borderlands 3 will release for PC, PS4 and Xbox One on September 13th, 2019 and we hope to see cross-play coming not soon after.
