Dark Light

Gearbox made quite some jaws drop when they officially revealed the trailer for the third iteration of the popular looter shooter franchise everyone knows and loves – Borderlands. Borderlands 3 is officially a reality.

The trailer dropped as well as the teasers coming up to this confirm one rumor that has been going on for some time – that characters from the Tales from the Borderlands spin-off is making its way into the game. In fact, prominent characters from all past Borderlands games seems to be making their way into Borderlands 3 (or at least, are seen in the trailer). The game also promises multiple worlds, billions of weapons to loot, lots of environments to fight in, and lots of enemies and bosses to kill. Multiple environments are a much-needed change to the Borderlands formula, and it seems Gearbox seems to understand that completely.

No official information about a release date has been revealed yet, with the trailer mentioning that more details will be updated on the official Borderlands site on April 3.

In addition to confirming Borderlands 3, Gearbox and 2K also announced Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition. With brand new weapons, substantial visual upgrades, quality of life improvements, all four add-on packs, and more, Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition is the brand new definitive version of the award-winning 2009 first-person shooter/role-playing game hybrid Borderlands, available now for the first time on current generation consoles.

BORDERLANDS ULTRA HD TEXTURE PACKS

HD updates are coming for the rest of the core Borderlands titles as well thanks to the Ultra HD Texture Pack. This free, optional download increases the visual fidelity of Borderlands: The Handsome Collection and its DLC on consoles, and provides a visual upgrade for Borderlands 2, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, and all their DLC on PC. Players will best appreciate all the added detail at 4K resolution, but improvements can be enjoyed on other displays as well.

All new and existing product owners will be able to download the texture pack starting April 4, 2019 (Asia), making the Borderlands back catalog even more enticing for fans who can’t wait to play Borderlands 3.

BORDERLANDS 2 VR

Finally, Gearbox and 2K also revealed that all four major Borderlands 2 DLC packs will be added to Borderlands 2 VR on PlayStation VR in summer 2019 and will be free for all players. Gearbox already responded to fan feedback earlier this year by adding AIM Controller support to the game; now they’re going even further by including all four content add-on packs: Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty, Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage, Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt, and Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep. More details will be announced in the coming months.
