In Hearthstone, players have long resented the inability to purchase card packs of expansions or wings of adventures rotating to Wild. Cards in Wild format can only be obtained by crafting them using dust, which is an pretty expensive process for getting a feel of all the good cards in an expansion. (Considering that gathering that much dust takes a lot of time and money) This means that players looking forward to playing the Wild format and try out the cards there will either need to forget about it, or simply empty their pockets and be a no-lifer sitting in front of the screen and hard-farming gold by doing quests and Arena runs.
However, that is about to change. Ben Brode, the Game Director for Hearthstone, has responded positively to the suggestion in a Reddit thread where a heated discussion was going on about why Blizzard should only allow players to craft Wild format cards and not allow pack purchases or purchases of wings of adventures rotated to the Wild format. According to Ben, Blizzard was “rethinking” their stance on only allowing players to craft Wild cards, and not allowing Wild pack purchases. This was keeping in line with their promise of popularizing the Wild format during the Year of the Mammoth.
For the uninitiated, Hearthstone features two game modes, Standard and Wild. Standard features cards from the two most recent years of expansions (or adventures), while Wild features cards from all expansions or adventures of the game.
This is certainly a positive step taken by Blizzard Entertainment to popularize the Wild format of Hearthstone, which most people avoid, mostly citing the lack of a good collection as a reason. Being able to purchase Wild format cards means one can complete the collection at any point of time without having to worry about the card rotations from Standard. This also proves that Blizzard was actually serious about making Wild a playable format.
