In a recent financial sales report, Bandai Namco revealed that the Switch’s booming success caught them off guard and they’ll be doing their best to support the system. Company president Mitsuaki Taguchi said:
“We have put 3 games on the Switch so far and all of them are doing well. It’s a shame, but we didn’t think the Switch [would] be accepted this fast.”
That last statement is not surprising since Nintendo’s previous system, the Wii U proved to be a commercial flop; hence most third party publishers were quite vary of supporting the Big N’s next major console. But now that the Nintendo Switch is slowly but steadily gaining popularity, several third parties are starting to see potential in the Switch and are jumping on board. According to Taguchi, Bandai Namco’s three big games are supposed to be released sometime after April in 2018 (no word on what these are though).
Bandai Namco has confirmed before that a brand new Tales game and a new Taiko No Tatsujin game will be coming to the Switch next year, but Taiko is out of consideration as it’s a pretty niche franchise. Then there’s also the possibility of a Dark Souls 3 (or Trilogy) port since From Software is also making something for Switch.
What do you think? Any guesses on what these big games are?
