CI Games has released a new episode of its Lifting the Veil developer series, offering a closer look at Lords of the Fallen 2 following the game’s appearance at Summer Game Fest.

The latest episode breaks down the recently unveiled “Battle for Thorngar” trailer while also featuring more than two minutes of new gameplay footage. Among the highlights is an extended look at the katana weapon class, which appears to focus on faster, more precise combat while maintaining the series trademark brutality.

The video also provides a glimpse at several boss encounters, including the Scion, an angelic enemy whose wings are formed from severed arms. CI Games additionally shared new details on Yisugen, a Japanese-inspired region that players will be able to explore in the upcoming action RPG.

Elsewhere, the development team discussed ongoing work on the Umbral realm, with game director James Lowe explaining that community feedback has played a role in shaping changes to the world of the dead since the previous Lifting the Veil episode.

“We know that the Umbral could be much more alive,” Lowe said, noting that the team is continuing to refine the balance between atmosphere and visual storytelling within the realm. The developer also reiterated several of the sequel’s major features, including shared-progression co-op, expanded build customization, dynamic encounters within Umbral, and multiple endings determined by player choices throughout the campaign.

CI Games says Lords of the Fallen II will feature a larger variety of enemies, new execution mechanics, and an expanded dismemberment system. The studio is also continuing to work closely with Epic Games to make use of Unreal Engine 5 technologies such as Nanite and Lumen.

During the presentation, CI Games confirmed that Lords of the Fallen II remains on track for release this fall on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
