One of the world’s biggest surprises was learning that Riot Games can finally justify the ‘s’ in its title. The 10th anniversary of Riot’s popular MOBA, League of Legends, marked a drastic change in direction for the company itself, as it expanded to include multiple projects in its roster. We already have seen two of the new projects – Legends of Runeterra and Valorant – both being Riot’s first venture in a genre other than strategy. It seems that Riot still has other projects in development – officially seen via the “careers” section of Riot’s official site.
Riot Games is apparently hiring a senior recruiter for an “unannounced R&D project”. We already have an idea about another project that is in production at Riot HQ (in Los Angeles) – popularly known as Project L. Project L is Riot’s official take on the fighting genre, and we have already seen a few glimpses of it during the anniversary revelations. This new “unannounced project” is apparently still in its research and development phase, and a public release will take some time. The posting itself isn’t very clear about the nature of the project – guess we do need to wait and watch for an announcement.
During the 10th anniversary revelations, there has been a statement that Riot will be diversifying its roster of games by far and large – and it seems like they are set out to do exactly that. For now, take it with a grain of salt, or a bucketload of it if you want.
