There has been a lot of speculation regarding the 8 core Intel CPUs for some time now and rumors were afloat that the upcoming Z390 chipset will be able to support these upcoming 8 core chips, and they will be based on Intel Coffee Lake. But, things are seeming a bit different as a database leak reveals the newer processors to be based on Kaby Lake instead of Coffee Lake. Futher details about the leaks can be found below:
This is a pretty interesting move from Intel given that the 10nm processors were pushed to next year, and it was likely that the 8 core processors would be based on 10 nm, but, Intel has rather decided to stick to 14nm for the 8 core processors. While this does not mean, that Coffee Lake won’t get a 8 core variant, it is still a pretty interesting move from Intel.
