Nightdive Studios has announced that SiN: Reloaded, a remastered edition of the cult-classic 1998 first-person shooter SiN, is scheduled to launch in 2026 for PC and consoles. The studio, known for its work restoring classic games for modern platforms, says the new release will feature enhanced visuals, updated control schemes, and will also include the expansion mission pack Wages of SiN.
Set in a dystopian near-future, the game places players in the role of Colonel John R. Blade, a security consultant tasked with stopping the ambitions of the enigmatic and dangerous Dr. Elexis Sinclaire. As the CEO of SinTEK Industries, Sinclaire begins distributing a DNA-altering drug across the city, unleashing a wave of genetically engineered mutants. Players must confront this threat and dismantle SinTEK’s operations while navigating a morally gray world shaped by corporate power and technological excess.
The original game was notable for pushing the limits of the Quake II engine and introducing an unusual level of environmental interactivity. Players could hack computer terminals using DOS-style commands, manipulate security systems and elevators, and traverse levels using vehicles such as forklifts, patrol boats, and helicopters. Many actions carried consequences, often opening alternative routes and branching paths as missions progressed. The combat system also experimented with mechanics like disarming opponents and dealing location-specific damage.
The upcoming remaster has been optimized using the KEX Engine to ensure compatibility with modern hardware. Nightdive says the update will include remastered textures and models, improved maps, and support for resolutions up to 4K with high frame rates. Players will also be able to switch between the updated visuals and the original “SiN Gold” presentation. Additional improvements include revamped controls and interface options for both controllers and mouse-and-keyboard setups, new achievements, and higher-resolution versions of the original soundtrack by Zak Belica, newly mixed and engineered by Chris Mock.
The release will also feature a vault of behind-the-scenes bonus material and the full Wages of SiN expansion campaign. According to the developer, the goal is to deliver the most complete and accessible version of the game yet.
SiN: Reloaded is expected to launch later in 2026 for Windows PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store, as well as for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch systems.
